Maws
Maws are floating Horf-like enemies that move towards Isaac and are highly susceptible to knockback. When close they can fire projectiles at him.
This page is about Maws added by Fiend Folio. More information about Maws in general can be found in the vanilla page.
Shrunken Head
Shrunken Heads are miniature Maws that spawn in groups. They follow Isaac with shaky movement, and attempt to stick together with the other Shrunken Heads they spawned with as a loose cluster. When Isaac is in range a Shrunken Head will continuously fire single small blood projectiles towards him.
Notes
- The amount of Shrunken Heads that spawn in a cluster is determined by its variant and is set by the room layout.
- Shrunken heads can spawn with a couple of different expressions. This is purely cosmetic however and doesn't affect its behavior.
Gob
Gobs are Maws found in the Dank Depths. Periodically, they will begin firing out a constant stream of arcing tar projectiles towards Isaac while propelling themselves backwards away from him.
Gunk
Gunks chase after Isaac much faster than regular Maws. Upon drawing near, they will fire out a large projectile towards Isaac that leaves a trail of black creep as it travels. When firing, the Gunk will be launched a short distance backwards from the recoil.
Upon death, it drops on the ground and turns into a large Tar Bubble.
Notes
- There is a variant of Gunks with a unique appearance named
Punk that are spawned by
Pollution. It can also appear in a few rare rooms.
Gleek
Gleeks are variants of Maws that appear in the Scarred Womb. They move in short dashes towards Isaac, leaving a trail of red creep with each dash that thins out quickly as they slow down. They will alternate between two different attacks each time it draws close to Isaac:
- Fires 2 large slow-moving projectiles in a V that travel slowly and leave a trail of red creep.
- Fires 3 quicker projectiles in a wide spread.
Dread Maw
Dread Maws are a demonic variant of Red Maws. They fly after Isaac rapidly, increasing in speed and shaking more violently upon reaching half health. When damaged, they will fire 4 projectiles in the cardinal directions. On death, they blow up into streams of 8 projectiles in the ordinal directions, as well as 4 large projectiles in the cardinal directions. When these 4 large projectiles hit a wall or obstacle, they pop into two large streams of projectiles traveling in perpendicular directions.
Trivia
- Shrunken Heads were added in The Monthiversary Update.
- Gleeks are named after gleeking, a rare trait when few people can launch saliva from under their tounges, and even fewer being able to do it on command.
