Garys are giant maggots that mainly appear in Necropolis.
Preempted by a couple of tremors, Gary emerges from a wall either once the room is cleared or after a certain amount of time passes, before spawning 3 random maggot enemies in quick succession from the following list:
If there are fewer than 3 maggot enemies left in the room, Gary will occasionally spawn enough at once to reach 3. However, if there are 3 or more maggots, it will occasionally spawn 1, up to a maximum of 5.
Once defeated, it will retreat back into its hole, which will then seal up with rocks.
Notes
- Whether Gary will burst out shortly after or behave like "waiting" enemies depends on the room layout.
- Despite appearing alongside other "waiting" enemies and having the same behavior, Garys that emerge after the room is cleared are not technically classified as such.
Trivia
- There is a secret variant of Gary known as "IDPD Gary", which can spawn very rarely from
Portals. They are a recolor of Gary and act similarly, but spawn IDPD Grunts instead of random maggots.
