Calzones are maggot-filled enemies bound around the room periodically with small leaps. Every 2-4 jumps they will lob a maggot projectile in a random direction which spawns a random maggot enemy from the following:
Maggot
Charger
Spitty
Creepy Maggot
Dank Charger (Only when encountered in Dank Depths)
They will not spawn any more maggots if 2 are currently alive.
Upon death, they will spawn 1-2 more random maggot enemies from the same selection.
Variants
Panini
Paninis are a smaller variant of Calzones encountered in the Flooded Caves that also make smaller hops while moving around. They behave identically to their counterpart but will spawn exclusively 
Drowned Chargers.
Trivia
- Calzone (and Panini by extension) were a part of Fiend's Community Poll on Twitter, which would decide which of three enemies would remain in the game as a parody of Minecraft's mob polls.
Fumegeist triumphed over Calzone and 
Dogmeat, both can now be removed from the game in one of the mod's settings.
