Fumegeist
Fumegeists are mostly stationary and float in place, only moving slightly in random directions. They will periodically spawn a Mote toward Isaac's direction. After spawning 3 Motes, they will ignite themselves for a set duration and begin chasing Isaac while leaving behind a sparse trail of fires. This attack also ignites all Motes and piles of gunpowder in the room.
- It will not spawn any Motes if there are 3 currently alive and will instead repeat its ignition attack.
If a Mote deals contact damage to Isaac, a Fumegeist will turn all unignited Motes into small piles of gunpowder.
Unlike the Motes they spawn, Fumegeists cannot be ignited by any other sources of fire.
Notes
- While in its ignited state, Fumegeist will immediately revert back to normal if hit by the explosion of
Water TNT.
- Despite being a ghost, Fumegeist cannot be killed by
Vade Retro. This is possibly an oversight.
Mote
Motes fly around the room diagonally, traveling over obstacles and bouncing off of walls. They can be ignited when they come into contact with any source of fire or when a Fumegeist ignites them. Upon ignition, it will speed up drastically and periodically leave behind flames in its wake.
Notes
- While in their ignited state, Motes will immediately revert back to normal if hit by the explosion of
Water TNT.
Trivia
- Fumegeist was the winner of Fiend's community Twitter poll, which decided which of three enemies would remain in the game as a parody of Minecraft's mob polls. Fumegeist triumphed over
Calzone and
Dogmeat, showing them just who's boss.
- Because of this, there is a toggleable option named "Community Decision" inside the Dead Sea Scrolls menus to prevent Calzones and Dogmeats from spawning, just as the community wanted.
