Wailer

Wailers are tiny invulnerable ghosts first encountered in the Depths. They behave as obstacles, either staying in place, moving back and forth in a line while bouncing off of walls and obstacles, or moving adjacent with walls and obstacles like
Wall Huggers. They are normally intangible, but will periodically puff up, blocking tears and dealing contact damage. They will continue moving for a few moments in this state before deflating.
They do not disappear and will remain active once the room is cleared of enemies, but will disappear if any and all Pressure Plates are pressed.
Notes
- The duration that a Wailer will stay puffed up/deflated is determined by the room layout.
Trivia
- Wailer is based on the monster of the same name from the game The End is Nigh, made by Edmund Mcmillen and Tyler Glaiel.
- This is made even more evident due to Wailers sharing their sound effects between games.
- In the MOD THE FUTURE, Wailers are capable of appearing in the titular Future floor with a unique appearance.
- Notably, the Wailers in THE FUTURE are independent from the Wailers in Fiend Folio, as they are capable of appearing even if Fiend Folio: Reheated is not installed.
- Wailers were added in The Monthiversary Update.
