Zealots are Bishop-like enemies that mostly remain stationary, only moving to scoot away from Isaac if he is too close. They will occasionally summon a spinning crosshair on the floor that follows after Isaac with increasing speed until it locks on. Once locked on, the crosshair will freeze in place, and Zealot will summon down a huge beam of light from the sky that will persist for a long duration, and will deal a whole heart of damage if Isaac touches it.
The crosshair will disappear if the associated Zealot is killed, but any beams of light will persist for its whole duration or until the room is cleared.
Trivia
- Zealots are shamelessly inspired by the Virtue enemy from ULTRAKILL, who also spawn a lingering pillar of light at the player's position via a crosshair.
- Zealots also use the exact same sounds used by Virtues for the lock-on, impact, and beam hum sounds.
