Alfil

Alfils are walking variants of Bishops that roam around the room in cardinal directions like a
Knight, while also charging towards Isaac's direction when he lines up with them. Instead of protecting other enemies with shields like Bishops, if there are any other vulnerable enemies alive in the room Alfils generate a shield on themselves when attacked. Whenever an Alfil blocks a tear with a shield, a random enemy in the room will fire out 4 projectiles in the ordinal directions - indicated by it being connected to the Alfil by a harmless laser.
When all other vulnerable enemies are dead, Alfil will become defenseless and can be killed.
Notes
- Each time Alfil blocks damage and causes an enemy to create projectiles, there will be a cooldown before that enemy can fire projectiles again.
- During this cooldown Alfils will target other enemies instead.
- Alfils will not be protected by each other, similar to how Bishops will not create shields on other Bishops.
- If Alfils and Bishops are in the same room, Bishops will protect Alfils with their own shield. The shield created by Bishops will have priority over Alfil's own shielding, meaning enemies won't create 4 projectiles in diagonal directions whenever an Alfil shielded by a Bishop is hit.
Trivia
- Alfil was added in The Spookaween Update.
- The Alfil is a fairy chess piece which can leap two tiles away in diagonal. It is a predecessor to the Bishop and was used in its place in standard Chess until the Bishop replaced it in the 16th century.
