Skitter Skulls are large scorpion-like enemies that will spawn hidden underground and will only unearth if Isaac gets too close or once all the other enemies in the room are killed.
After emerging they will relentlessly chase after Isaac, standing still and snapping a claw outwards towards Isaac when close to him. If Isaac stays away from a Skitter Skull for a period, it will fire a bright green 
Flat Stone projectile from their stinger towards Isaac which bounces off the ground. Every time the projectile comes into contact with the ground it creates a small puddle of damaging green creep.
Their snip attack deals a whole heart of damage and can also destroy obstacles it hits.
Notes
- Skitter Skulls are most commonly encountered within the ground but can rarely spawn unburied.
Trivia
- Skitter Skull was added in The Spookaween Update.
- In the Skitter Skulls animation file an animation labeled "BandKid" is present. This animation shows a crudely drawn character labeled as BAND KID squashing and stretching comedically.
