Doples

Doples are enemies characterized by mirroring Isaac's movements exactly, both moving and firing tears at the same speed as Isaac in the opposite direction than he does.

Pooples are variants of Dople that attempt to mirror Isaac's movement, but but do so very loosely as they take time to accelerate and will slip around as they move. Unlike Doples and their variants, Poople will deal contact damage and not fire projectiles. They will also constantly leave a trail of slippery long-lasting brown creep on the ground.

If they bump into a wall or obstacle while moving fast enough, they will send out a burst of poop projectiles that leave small puddles of brown creep where they land, spawn a Brownie Corn, and create a large puddle of slippery creep.

If encountered in Dross, Poople spawn Drips instead of Brownie Corn. These Drips will have a unique brown coloration to match Poople's but behave as usual.

Aper

Found in

Apers are a Dople variant exclusively found in Gehenna. They behave similarly to to their counterpart, except their projectiles have a very low shot speed and high range, making them persist in the air for much longer. Their projectiles will remain at a fixed size, unlike regular Doples.

Notes

• If Isaac has flight, then Apers in the room will have wings and fly too.
  • If Isaac does not have flight, they will also sprout wings if they would be inside of a rock or above a pit. When moving back to solid ground, their wings will disappear.
  • Despite having flight, an Aper's projectiles will not be spectral, making them useless when flying over obstacles.
• If several Apers are present in the same room, then the 2nd Aper will only mirror Isaac across the horizontal axis, and the 3rd will only mirror Isaac across the vertical axis.

Trivia

• The appearance of the Drips spawned by Poople in Dross is taken from a cut Turdlet-themed Drip variant.
  • The sprites for this variant exist in the base game files. However, they were unused, and are thus repurposed for Poople and also Scoops.
• Aper's name is based on the word "aper", whose meaning refers to someone who copies the words or behavior of another.
