Rubber Bullets is a passive item added in The Reheated Update.

Effects

• Grants Isaac a 20% chance to fire rubber bullet tears that have 1.5× shot speed, and inflict a stack of bruising onto enemies for 4 seconds.
  • Bruised enemies take an additional 1 flat point of damage from all sources for each stack, and can accumulate up to 5 stacks at once.
  • The chance to fire a rubber bullet increases by 3% for every 1 point of luck Isaac has, before capping out at a 50% chance at 10 luck.

Interactions

• Dr. Fetus: Bombs have a chance to become purple and have increased launch speed. These bombs will bruise enemies caught in the explosion.
• Aquarius: Creep will be purple in color, and enemies damaged by the creep can become bruised.
• Abyss: Absorbing Rubber Bullets spawns a unique purple Abyss Locust that has a chance bruise enemies.
• Second Hand: Increases the duration of the stacks of bruising to 8 seconds, and is increased further with any Trinket Multipliers.
• Swallowed M90 / Friendly Rapid Fire Opal: Bullets fired from the weapons granted by these items are guaranteed to bruise enemies.

Trivia

• The appearance of Rubber Bullets is a reference to the character named Friend from Maria's iconic Imp Gang. She is a hotheaded orange-colored imp who is an avid gunslinger and pyromancer, and is the rival to Fiend.
