Rat Poison is an active item added in The Reheated Update.
Effects
- When used in a room with a listed creator, that room and all other encountered rooms that are made by that creator will be skipped; all bosses, enemies, obstacles, pickups, and items will vanish, leaving behind a completely empty room.
- Skipping a room will not spawn room clear rewards (including items from Boss Rooms), but will still recharge active items.
Notes
- The name of the creator is shown at bottom of the screen if the
Room Names
option in the Dead Sea Scrolls menu of the Fiend Folio MOD is enabled. - If used in a room with no visible creator name, such as rooms in the vanilla game (which are most often simply titled "New Room"), the item does nothing and is not used.
- Otherwise, if used in a room from a creator whose rooms are already skipped, the item does nothing, but is still consumed and removed from the active slot.
Interactions
- Abyss: Absorbing Rat Poison spawns an Abyss Locust that looks like a skull and poisons enemies.
Trivia
- Using Rat Poison on a room created by the developer Vermin will cause the corpse of a large green rodent to fall from the ceiling.
- This corpse's appearance is a direct reference to Vermin's avatar.
- The item's entire design, and its unique interaction with Vermin and his rooms, are all a reference to a running joke of how Vermin's rooms were notorious to both fans and other developers alike for tending to be very difficult or unfair, hence Rat Poison being created to counteract against these rooms.
