Crucifix is a passive item added in The Reheated Update.

Effects

• When acquired, gives Isaac's tears a bright cyan color. Enemies killed by these tears turn into martyrs that appear as ghostly afterimages of themselves.
  • Martyred enemies possess a small aura similar to Hallowed Ground that grants a 1.1× damage multiplier, 0.8× max tear delay multiplier and homing tears to Isaac while he is standing inside of it.
  • Martyred enemies will fade away after 5 seconds.
• Similar to the effects of freezing an enemy, when an enemy is martyred it will cancel any on-death effects. Martyring an enemy also does not count as a kill, and will not activate effects such as Lusty Blood.

Notes

• Enemies that die by means other than from Isaac's tears, such as bomb explosions, will not leave behind a martyr.
• Bosses and mini-bosses will not leave behind a martyr when killed.
• Unlike Hallowed Ground's aura, standing in a martyr's aura created will not grant a chance for Isaac to block damage taken. In addition, standing in multiple auras will not increase the stat multipliers further.
• Having multiple copies of Crucifix will increase the duration that martyred enemies and their auras will remain in the room.
• Crucifix contributes to the Seraphim transformation.

Interactions

• Mom's Knife: The knife will be cyan in color, and enemies killed by the knife will leave behind ghosts.
• Dr. Fetus / Epic Fetus: Enemies killed by explosions from Dr. Fetus bombs and Epic Fetus missiles will leave behind martyrs. Dr. Fetus bombs will also be cyan in color.
• Brimstone / Technology / Technology 2 / Tech X: Lasers will be cyan in color, and enemies killed by them will leave behind martyrs.
• Aquarius: Creep will be cyan in color, and enemies killed by the creep will leave behind martyrs. Aquarius creep puddles created by Isaac while standing in the martyr auras will also gain homing properties, moving towards nearby enemies.
• Hallowed Ground: The aura created by Hallowed Ground will take precedence over martyr auras, and their effects will not stack with each other.
• Abyss: Absorbing Crucifix spawns a unique cyan Abyss Locust that will cause enemies killed by it to turn into martyrs.
• Second Hand: The duration of the martyr aura is increased to 10 seconds, and increases by another 5 seconds for every additional Trinket Multiplier.

• A Crucifix is an image or figure of Jesus Christ on the cross.
  • Isaac's appearance when he has obtained Crucifix is similar to Jesus's pose when he was on the cross — alternatively, it is more likely based off the T-pose.
• Crucifix's flavor text is a distortion of the common Christian mantra, "(Jesus) died for your sins".
