Runic Fossil is a rock trinket added in The Reheated Update.
Effects
- As
Golem, all normal trinket drops are guaranteed to be replaced with runes.
- This does not affect drops that would always normally be rock trinkets, and as such rocks dropped from Subway Traders, entering a
Secret Room, clearing a 
Boss Room, etc. will not be replaced with runes. - If none of the players are currently Golem, Runic Fossil will not affect any trinket drops.

- Using a rune or Soul Stone will drop a
Rune Shard, excluding Rune Shard itself. - Crush Effect: Spawns 4 Rune Shards.
Interactions
Trinket Multipliers: Spawns additional Rune Shards when using a rune or Soul Stone, scaling with the multiplier.
Azurite Spindown: Using Azurite Spindown on Runic Fossil rerolls it into 
Fish Fossil.
