IOU is a trinket added in The Reheated update.

Effects

• Grants a 15% chance for the reward after clearing the room to be replaced with a trinket.
  • The chance is affected by Isaac's luck, reaching a maximum of a 90% chance at 30 luck.
• If held at the end of the run, spawns a random trinket at the start of the next run.

Notes

• The effect of spawning a trinket on the next run still occurs whether the run was successful or not, even if the run was restarted.

Interactions

• Trinket Multipliers: Multiplies the chance for a trinket to spawn on clearing a room, which can allow it to go above the 90% luck-affected chance cap.
  • If IOU is a golden trinket, then trinkets spawned will have an additional 10% chance to be golden. Additionally, if held at the end of a run, the trinket spawned on the next run is guaranteed to be golden.
• Azurite Spindown: Using Azurite Spindown on IOU rerolls it into Jigsaw Puzzle Box.

Trivia

• An "IOU" (acronym for "I owe you") is a written acknowledgement of debt that one party owes another.
  • In regards to the trinket and its effect — where IOU is a trinket that spawns other trinkets — the context is that the player is being "owed" what would have been any other trinket in its place.
