Hatred is a trinket added in The Reheated Update.

Effects

• Spawns a small black clot familiar next to Isaac that moves and shoots tears through his same inputs.
• The familiar inherits Isaac's tear rate, range, and shot speed, and deals 35% of Isaac's damage.
• Double-tapping the "shoot" buttons will cause the familiar to fly forward as a piercing fireball similar to Malice, leaving behind a short-lasting trail of black slowing creep and dealing 7 damage to enemies in its path. After hitting a wall or obstacle the familiar will disappear and create a larger pool of black creep.
  • The familiar will reform next to Isaac after 3 seconds.

Notes

• Holding the "drop" button lets Isaac move independently from the familiar.
• Unlike its Sumptorium clot equivalents, the Hatred familiar is immune to all forms of damage, such as from enemies and enemy projectiles, as all will merely pass through it — nor will the familiar deal contact damage to enemies.
• Also unlike Sumptorium clots, the Hatred familiar does not inherit Isaac's tear effects.

Interactions

• BFFS!: Increases the familiar's tear damage to 70% of Isaac's, and deals 14 damage while in fireball form.
• Trinket Multipliers: Grants copies of the familiar based on the number of additional trinket multiplier effects.
• Sacrificial Altar: The Hatred familiar can be sacrificed and will spawn an item from the Devil item pool. This will remove the trinket from Isaac's inventory.
• Forgotten Lullaby / Baby-Bender: No effect on the Hatred familiar's tears. (NOTE: This could be an oversight.)
• Azurite Spindown: Using Azurite Spindown on Hatred rerolls it into Petrified Gel.

Trivia

• The name Hatred and its flavor text, "Distilled malice", is in reference to Malice's flavor text being "Concentrated hatred".
• Hatred is a riff on Tainted Eve's Mother unlock, Lil Clot.
  • This was inspired by the similarities between Tainted Eve and Fiend, as they both follow a similar theme of using their health to generate familiars.
