Warp Zone is a boss added in The Reheated Update that can be encountered in MausoleumIcon.png Mausoleum. They are the giant version of a Portal.png Portal.

Behavior

Warp Zone appears near the top of the arena, and remains stationary for all three of its phases.

Phase 1

Warp Zone will periodically cycle between two attacks in order, never using the same one twice in a row:

  • Rotates in place either clockwise or counter-clockwise, releasing rings of Blurple-colored projectiles 10 times in alternating orientations, that will begin to orbit Warp Zone as they expand continually until they fly off-screen. The first 9 rings will be made up of 4 projectiles, while the 10th and innermost ring will have 12 projectiles.
  • Vomits out 3 clusters of homing projectiles that travel after Isaac in the air before each hitting the ground one after the other. After each impact, each cluster releases an increasing number of fast-moving Plum-colored projectiles outwards, going from 6, to 8, and to 10 projectiles, as well as all creating a ring of 9 spinning Lavender projectiles that expands quickly for a brief moment.

Phase 2

When below 75% HP, Warp Zone summons one of 3 Corrupted bosses — Corrupted Monstro, Corrupted Gemini, or Corrupted Larry — to fight. Warp Zone then becomes partially invisible, and also intangible; being unable to take damage, nor deal contact damage while in this state as Isaac and his tears will pass through it.

After the summoned boss is killed, Warp Zone becomes visible again and continues the fight with the same attacks from the previous phase, along with an additional one, which it will always use first:

  • Chews before spitting out a chain of 6 Soft Purple projectiles that constantly turn at perpendicular angles to follow Isaac, similar to the effect of Brain Worm.png Brain Worm.

In this phase, Warp Zone will still not yet use the same attack twice in a row.

Phase 3

When below 45% HP, Warp Zone summons another one of the remaining 2 Corrupted bosses that has not been encountered and becomes invulnerable again.

After the summoned boss is killed, Warp Zone continues the fight, retaining only the attacks from Phase 1 and can now perform its attacks at random, no longer cycling between them. It also has an additional attack, which it will use immediately:

  • Spins incredibly fast for a few seconds while creating 2 of the following differently colored projectile patterns overlapped on top of each other, with their angles rotating clockwise or counterclockwise:
    • Concord Grape: Multiple straight lines of 3 projectiles aimed outwards.
    • Light Lavendery: 4 rotating streams of projectiles, with the streams all being perpendicular to each other.
    • Ripe Plum: 6 rotating streams of projectiles, with the streams all being at equal angles to each other.
    • Dingy Perfume: Rings of 10 projectiles with alternating orientations.
    • Raspberry Vanilla: Rotating spread shots of 4 projectiles.
    • Dark Blurple: A single rotating stream of fast-moving projectiles that spirals tightly outwards.
    • Periwinkle: Rotating triplet projectiles, with each row being at an oblique angle.

Notes

  • Whenever Warp Zone reaches an HP threshold to enter a new phase it will become immune to damage. Visually Warp Zone can take damage during its animation to spawn a corrupted boss, however this does not lower its HP.
  • Warp Zone is immune to the Chaos Card.png Chaos Card. If the card is thrown towards the boss, it will fall spiraling into Warp Zone's body, before bringing it back out and spitting it towards Isaac. If the reflected card hits him, he will turn into LostCoopIcon.png The Lost (with Holy Mantle.png Holy Mantle) for the rest of the fight. After defeating the boss, exiting the room will turn Isaac back to normal.
  • Entering Warp Zone's boss room or encountering it in a Boss Challenge Room will teleport Isaac to the bottom center of the room, similarly to Gurdy.png Gurdy.

Spawns

Corrupted Monstro

Corrupted Monstro is smaller than its counterpart Monstro.png Monstro, and much faster with a more complex set of attacks.

  • Corrupted Monstro's main attack is stringing together a series of different jumps after Isaac, each with their own properties:
    • A standard length jump that fires 4 projectiles in the cardinal or ordinal directions on landing, alternating with each time the attack is used.
    • Corrupted Monstro jumps while puffing up its cheeks. Upon landing, fires out a volley of arced projectiles towards Isaac. It will follow up with a second jump which will fire 8 slow moving projectiles in a ring when landing.
    • A high jump that fires 4 slow, large projectiles in the cardinal directions upon landing. After a moment, these each burst into 4 more projectiles with higher speed in the cardinal directions.
  • After pausing from completing a string of jumps, Corrupted Monstro may perform some of the following standalone attacks:
    • Coughs up a large disorganized volley of projectiles towards Isaac.
    • Hops towards Isaac once, vomiting out a volley of projectiles at the apex of their jump.
    • Squishes down and fires out 2 alternating rings of projectiles, with 6 clusters of projectiles in the outer ring and 6 homing projectiles on the inner.
  • After completing a string of jumps, or one of the other previous attacks, Corrupted Monstro may quickly leap off-screen before landing at Isaac's position. Upon landing, the attack will:
    • Scatter arced blood projectiles around, with a majority of them being a volley directed at Isaac.
    • Launch 3 large rock projectiles in an arc from where Corrupted Monstro landed. Upon impact, these rock projectiles break into a cluster of smaller rock projectiles in the direction of its movement.
    • Create 3 rock projectiles that then fall from the ceiling in random locations, each indicated by a red flashing dot on the ground. The rocks send out 4 projectiles in the cardinal directions on landing.

Corrupted Gemini

Corrupted Gemini appears as a pair of bosses similar to GeminiBoss.png Gemini, consisting of the large twin Corrupted Contusion and the small ghostly twin Corrupted Suture, as well as clusters of rocks that magically appear in random locations within the room.

  • Corrupted Contusion will continuously chase Isaac. Periodically, he will speed up while leaving behind a wake of bloody projectiles (comprised of constantly spraying short-ranged arced projectiles, and a separate spread of 3 projectiles that are slower but have higher range) and a trail of red creep. At the end of this charge he will trip, releasing a ring of 8 projectiles.
  • Corrupted Suture will float towards Isaac slowly.
    • Periodically, he will perform one of the following attacks, attempting to alternate when possible:
      • Fires a small string of 2 homing projectiles towards Isaac.
      • Pulls in a rock and throws it at Isaac, identical to a Kineti.png Kineti. If there are less than 2 rocks in the room, Corrupted Suture will instead spawn 6 rocks at random positions in the room. If Contusion has tripped, Suture may instead use telekinesis to drag Contusion's body over to himself and throw them at Isaac.
    • Upon taking damage, has a chance to teleport to a random position in the room in retaliation.
  • If Corrupted Suture is killed, he will begin to target all rocks in the room with his telekinesis and launch them straight upwards, destroying them in the process, before dying. If Corrupted Contusion is still alive he will continue to chase Isaac, with no change in behavior.
  • If Corrupted Contusion is killed, his corpse will remain on the ground blocking Isaac's tears but not dealing contact damage. If Corrupted Suture is still alive, he will then become enraged and chase Isaac more quickly, while gaining a new expanded set of attacks:
    • Spits out a stream of 4 homing projectiles at Isaac, instead of 2.
    • Picks up Contusion's corpse using telekinesis and throws it at Isaac.
    • Holds up Contusion's corpse using telekinesis over Isaac, before slamming the body into the ground 3 times in a row, releasing rings of 8 projectiles with each impact.
    • Targets 3 rocks with his telekinesis before launching them in an arc towards Isaac, each releasing clusters of 3 arced rock projectiles when landing, which themselves split into 2 smaller, arced rock projectiles in a V-shaped trajectory.
    • Teleports away before reappearing in the center of the room as indicated by a glow, releasing 4 homing projectiles in the cardinal directions and 3 lines of spiraling flames upon reentry.
    • Suture will no longer teleport on taking damage in this phase.

Corrupted Larry

Corrupted Larry spawns as a pair of worms with 5 segments each and acts similarly to Larry Jr.png Larry Jr., with each segment having separate health, and being able to split into two Larrys if a middle segment is killed as long as the new Corrupted Larry segments are longer than 2 pieces.

  • Corrupted Larry moves much faster and will actively try to chase Isaac. It will also charge towards Isaac if he is lined up in a cardinal direction, similarly to a Grub.png Grub.
  • Their tail segment will periodically spawn a Pale Gusher.png Pale Gusher.
    • If there are any Pale Gushers close by, the head of one of the Corrupted Larrys will move to consume it and hold it within its mouth while trailing blood creep for a short moment. When next lined up with Isaac, the head will spit out a cluster of blood and bone projectiles at Isaac instead of charging at him.
    • If a Corrupted Larry runs into a Pale Gusher while charging Isaac, the Pale Gusher bursts into a pool of red creep and 2 projectiles perpendicular to the charge.
    • Destroying any of Larry's segments when it has a Pale Gusher in its mouth will cause it to disappear.
