Gravedigger

Gravedigger is a ghostly mini-boss found in the CathedralIcon.png Cathedral.

Behavior

While any other enemies are alive in the room, she will float erratically around the room bouncing off of walls, with a barrier that grants her invulnerability. Once all other enemies in the room are killed, she will remove the barrier and perform one of two attacks:

  • Travels to the center of the room and then unleashes three green streams of fire from her lantern which spiral outwards.
  • Sends a green spirit out of her lantern, which shoots 4 lasers in ordinal directions shortly after spawning, and charges horizontally across the screen to reappear from the other side before traveling back into Gravedigger's lantern. While the spirit is out, Gravedigger will swing her shovel to create a spread of 3 large spectral tears towards Isaac, twice.
    • The spirit is invulnerable but can block Isaac's tears.

After Gravedigger has finished attacking, she will dig up a few ghostly enemies and then grant herself a new barrier until the spawned enemies are killed, repeating the cycle until Gravedigger is killed.

Unlockable Achievements

Trivia

  • If she is killed while her green spirit is outside of its lantern, the lantern will be left on the floor after she dies. Otherwise, the lantern shatters upon her death. The dropped lantern is merely a cosmetic effect and can't be interacted with.
  • Despite somewhat appearing to be a ghost, Vade Retro.png Vade Retro cannot kill Gravedigger when she is below 50% HP.
