China is a challenge character semi-exclusively found in the Handle With Care challenge. She is an anxious red-skinned imp, whose special ability is that she is fragile.
China starts with no health, and cannot gain health by any means.
The only way to play as China outside of Handle With Care is to revive as her using the Cursed Urn or
Shattered Cursed Urn trinkets.
Abilities & Traits
Fragility
Upon colliding with any solid obstacle, such as rocks or walls, China will take damage.
- Instead of colliding with pits, China will fall into them, take damage, and reappear beside a random door.
- Taking any damage as China adds a
Broken Heart to China's Health bar.
- Reaching 12 Broken Hearts is instantly fatal.
Horse Push-Pops
Completing a room has a 15% chance to spawn a Horse Push-Pop.
- Horse Push-Pops removes 1
Broken Heart.
- The chance for a Horse Push-Pop to spawn linearly scales with the number of Chinas currently playing, reaching a maximum of 60% if all 4 players are China.
Other
- China can open locked doors and Puzzle Locks from a greater distance than other characters, meaning they can be opened without taking damage from the collision.
- China has a 20% smaller hitbox.
- China has a 0.75× tear delay multiplier, increasing the effectiveness of tears ups.

The Lost, she can only ever take 1 from a given room, all other items will disappear.

- China is
Fiend's girlfriend in Fiend Folio canon; as well as in the canon of Maria's iconic Imp Gang.
- Canonically, China is a genetically modified plant (specifically, an apple), just like the rest of the Imps.
- The sound played when China dies is the sound of the Downpour mirror shattering.
- Internally, China's health is a filled Bone Heart. This is hidden from view but factors into the effects of some items.
- China's name is likely referencing fine china, another name given to porcelain, a highly fragile material which finds its origin in its eponymous country.
- China's menu portrait is a reference to a specific image of Spongebob Squarepants.
- China likes to eat Horses, and will kill them instantly on contact, turning them into a puddle of slowing glue creep.
