Brick By Brick is a challenge added in The Reheated Update. In this challenge, the player starts as Golem with a blindfold and two copies of Brick Rock, of which one is a golden trinket. The goal is to defeat Mom.

Difficulty

• Because of the blindfold, Golem can not shoot tears normally, requiring Golem to use the brick rocks to defeat enemies.
  • Brick Rocks are lost once thrown and reappear on impact. Missing an enemy means having to navigate through the room to pick up the Brick Rocks.
  • Brick Rocks are slowly attracted to Golem in rooms with enemies, to prevent softlocks. This attraction is stronger in cleared rooms.
    • The golden Brick Rock attracts slower than the regular one.

Strategies

• Grinding or crushing the Brick Rocks is not advised, as it would make Golem defenseless. Only do so if a better source of damage presents itself.
  • Moreover, smelting a Brick Rock onto Golem is useless, as it will be undone if Golem throws it.
• Do not forget the Brick Rocks before entering new rooms/floors. Otherwise, the challenge might be over for you.
• Grimlin and many other rock trinkets like them will let Golem attack enemies without firing normal tears, making them particularly useful.
  • Gaping Grimlin is particularly useful, as it sucks in Brick Rocks after having thrown them, retrieving them much faster than usual.
